Maple Ridge’s Intergenerational Garden Prepares Early for Canada’s 150th

Maple Ridge real estate

Next spring is the 150th birthday of our beloved nation, and while the whole country is preparing for the landmark celebration, one of my most anticipated events to mark the occasion is the planned blooming at the Intergenerational Garden right here in Maple Ridge.

Just as Canada is getting ready to start its 150th year of existence, the flowers in the Intergenerational Garden will bloom red and white to honor the day. For both visitors to and residents of Maple Ridge, this blooming is an event that can’t be missed. Learn more about the Intergenerational Garden’s plans for Canada’s 150th and find out how you can join the celebration by moving to Maple Ridge real estate.

How the Garden is Preparing

One of the most exciting things about the Intergenerational Garden’s plans for the 150th birthday celebration is that they are one of the few gardens in the country honored to participate in the event. Keeping on theme with this historic day, the Canadian Garden Council selected just 150 community gardens to represent Canada’s anniversary, and the Intergenerational Garden is proud to be one of the lucky few.

After being selected, the Intergenerational Garden received a package of tulip bulbs from the Canadian Garden Council for the celebration. The package is made up for 500 red and 500 white tulip bulbs to represent the colors of the Canadian flag.

Community Involvement

With the tulip bulbs delivered, community members in Maple Ridge got to work planting the flowers, and in true Maple Ridge fashion, getting the Intergenerational Garden ready for the 150th festivities was a true community effort. Volunteers of all ages, including fifteen classes of school children came out to plant bulbs in the public plots. Tulips were chosen specifically for this event because they are a symbol of hospitality, which is central to Canada’s identity.

Now that the bulbs are planted, all that’s left to do is wait for the blooming ceremony, which is planned for February as a lead up to the nation-wide Canada Day celebration.

Be a Part of Canada’s Birthday

A large part of celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday is recognizing the country’s long standing commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, which makes now a great time to plan a move to one of Canada’s most welcoming communities, Maple Ridge.

As you can see from the excitement surrounding the planned Canada Day celebration, Maple Ridge is a town that values its citizens and seeks to promote community involvement, making this one of the best places to live in the entire country. If you plan your move to Maple Ridge today, you can be sure to be a part of the Intergenerational Garden’s blooming ceremony, as well as the other exciting Canada Day festivities.
